Keeping staff and pupil networks separate is a core part of how we safeguard pupils on campus.
Why it matters
- The staff Wi-Fi has much less restrictive web filtering than the pupil networks.
- If a pupil gets staff credentials, they bypass the filtering and monitoring that protects them from inappropriate or harmful content.
What all staff must do
- Never share credentials. Don't share staff Wi-Fi details, personal logins or network passwords with pupils, visitors or anyone outside the school.
- No workarounds. Even when it's urgent, never use a staff network to give pupils or guests access. Use the visitor network or a school landline, or contact IT.
- Lock your devices. Don't leave a MacBook or iPad unlocked and unattended. A pupil using a logged-in staff device creates the same risk.
